The AIM Terminal is located adjacent to the Port of Singapore Authority Container Terminal at Aden (PSA Aden), and is therefore ideally situated to serve any traffic calling at Aden. These vessels can be bunkered to via a barge while they are loading and unloading at PSA Aden. Also as can be seen from the various maps Aden is astride today’s major sea routes. It is ideally situated to supply all vessels travelling between:

  •  Europe and the Far East
  •  Europe and the Near East
  •  Europe and the Middle East
  •  Europe and East Africa
  •  Europe and South Africa

Container shipping is vital to the growth of international commerce. Worldwide container volumes are growing at about 8 – 10% p.a. and currently exceed 100 million Tons (twenty-foot equivalent units), of which some 5 million Tons are presently handled in the UAE. PSA ADEN's investment in Aden will bring the Port at least 1.5 million Tons of capacity. Container transshipment between ships from the Far East and the West at a middle-distance location makes economic sense for shipping companies. The Port of Aden is ideally situated to serve this need since it saves ships 1,550 miles versus lower Gulf ports. With demurrage costs for the latest generation container ships running up to $100,000 per day, the Port of Aden’s attractiveness to international shipping is clear.

However a successful port demands modern sophisticated bunkering and lubricants supply facilities, and this is where AIM Terminal's participation becomes an integral and vital part of the Port of Aden Free Zone project.
